Subaru WRX motors are absolutely junk! Everyone I know with them and every single one that has come through the Auto auction I work at is garbage. We had 1 that came through ok but before it came through a brand new motor was installed. The neighbors kid bought a 2016 and 48 hours later the front on the motor left the chat. A fist sized hole in it.

Donut media high low builds been quite disappointing if you are Subaru owner At first and most get forged engine with pistons and rods and ARP headstuds if you are planning to run serious power or anything above 1.4bar,stock EJ25 have like we are calling them in UK chocolate pistons, headstuds are not up to job etc.. 6 speed gearbox is must, although we run 5 speed straight cut PPG with 555.5bhp on our JDM Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon, miss that bloody wagon 😢 and if you are really planning on upgrading the car then get STi, it's better starting car, have Brembo brakes and 6 speed etc If your Subaru is modified change oil like every 5k miles, that's what we do our current JDM Subaru Impreza STi Hawkeye which is running 500bhp with 500lbft and use quality oil etc, is worth it Friend have non turbo SUBARU Impreza and that car done like 350 000 km and same engine and half of his life was running on LPG I still think EJ25 is one of the worst engines, good old EJ20 or EJ22T been best, but sadly I don't think USA had them

Problem with Subarus is definitely the owners. And the ridiculous emissions placed on vehicles. Every issue with vehicles is emissions related. Trying to burn clean.

So yet again another Subaru that has an issue because someone did not do something correctly but ya lets blame the brand and car SMH the accountability in todays society is ridicules. That engine looks rough it has oil leaking everywhere. I have a gut feeling that who ever all worked on it wasn't the best mechanic/tuner on Subarus and my gut was correct in the tuning so far.

Donut did not do everything right. Donut people have no idea what they are doing with Subarus and most other cars to be frank. Broken subbies are inflicted because people don't know what they are doing or don't maintenance and take care of it and when it doesn't work or breaks they blame the car and say they are junk. If you don't want to change your oil or do proper maintenance because you are lazy and beat your car to hell buy a Honda.

Subarus are great cars, if you don’t heavily modify them, at that point your just asking for it. Tasteful mods like FMIC, upgraded radiator, oil cooler and a simple safe tune, is all you need. 150k miles original motor my 2015 wrx is still healthy, just need to change the timing chain thats it

If they deleted the o2 code it's either because they went catless or highflow and the tuner couldn't get the car to be happy otherwise. Deleting the MAF means he's on Speed Density

There are WAAAY too many videos online of how "car guys" treat cars. They absolutely abuse cars in ways that I didn't think possible. Then they want to cry and blame the car when it breaks. ESPECIALLY in the Subaru world. Forums are full of these goofballs who destroy the car and then part out what's left. Most of them don't even know what kind of oil to put in them let alone change it when they are supposed to. It's a four cylinder with relatively high compression for a turbo motor. If you can't comprehend what that means and everything that comes from that then get the fuck away from the car. It's like people who buy animals and but don't know how to take care of them.

What a pile of shit video! Subarus break because douschebags buy them. If you know what you are doing they are reliable as a framing hammer.

I've had several cars over the years, but my 11 year old Subaru is doing far better than any Ford I've had as far as issues go, save for a growing number of electrical gremlins. It handles great in the snow and I don't dread going in for annual inspections like I used to with my other cars. Granted, this is just a stock, daily driver versus a tuned setup, but yeah, I still have the Subaru love regardless.

I keep Rain-X on my cars & at speed, don't need to use the wipers as I find them to be a distraction... It is important to apply on a very clean window. So I wet the glass & use a fine steel wool to remove all particles from the glass, & when dry, apply the Rain-X evenly, with a disposable paper towel. Then, when set, you will notice a change/ flash... you can then use your squeegee & window wash , twice, to clean the window. & except for low speed, you will not need the wipers :-) Thank you for your videos. & you are right, my sister is on her 3rd Subaru, but I am hoping to change her to a Toyota or Honda for reliability, as she is now on disability, so a smaller RAV-4 from the 2012 or earlier area may be better for her. AWD as she is in the snow, but 4 cylinder for okayish MPG... I do like your videos, very different from many, & you tackle some really tough things, like that EV Pickup... wow! But, you have this one going back to The Tuner for a tweak. I feel, That will be a Problem Solved. Thank you, again :-) (I almost feel it Should be: Keep It Stupidly Simple.)

Oh lord yes. After a long quest I found my second and perfect Subaru. Black impreza hatch, 5 speed. And yes, it was horrid and broke weekly. But when you did get it driving, it was exceptional fun to drive. I finally had to park it because after having the tranny completely redone, complete with master and slaves, it quit shifting 1500 miles later again.

Jared accidentally swaps the subie motor out of habit? This deserves a redemption video if the fix takes.

I had a Subaru Legacy GT and it was mostly stock with just some bolt-ons and a tune. It wasn’t particularly fast, but it was quick enough. 160k miles and not a single issue with just normal maintenance. Stay mildly modified, and get a good tune and Subarus can be somewhat reliable. And, dammit, once you started driving you had me wanting to be back into a turbo Subaru. I do miss it.

So you claim that forums give misinformation, yet you say the 5 speed broke and it now has a 6 speed, that generation STI came with a 6 speed. The fact that he blew the motor at 2k and it wasn't fixed under warranty, the guy sounds like an idiot. The fact that he blew up an STI 6 speed (which is a very durable trans) and grenaded the motor that quick says that he beats the absolute dog shit out of that car. You claim that the worst thing for a mechanic to have roll into his bay is a heavily modified car, yet you threw no shade at the modifications or how they were done, just a lot of bashing Subaru, when the entire problem was improper modification/tuning. Yup Subaru's are junk. I own a 16 STI and it's been an absolutely fantastic car.

My truck had a problem where the speedometer quit working, and the abs light came on. The transmission wouldn't shift shift because it had no VSS signal. I replaced the sensor, opened up the wiring, traced it, and couldn't find any issues. I replaced the wires and pigtail completely, tested the front wheel speed sensors, couldn't figure it out. I let a shop try, and the occasionally messed with it over 6 months and couldn't figure it out. I decided to try swapping the ecu, and it fixed it. The only time in my life it actually was an ecu out of all the times I heard it with various vehicles.
